Spotlites Youth Theatre, a pro-am cast:

RICHARD II

By William Shakespeare

Richard II was considered such a dangerous play at the time it was written, 1595, in Elizabeth I’s reign, that it was banned!  The Earl of Essex’s followers commissioned a performance on the eve of the Essex rebellion 1601 to incite the people to rise and overthrow Elizabeth!

It’s about the usurping of Richard, a hedonistic King who was corrupted by favourites and power and cared little for his people!  It’s about exile, civil war, rebellion, murder and intrigue! A political thriller!!  With plenty of emotion and a ton of excitement!  Interpreted with song, dance and spectacle to create a gripping edge of your seat thriller!

Thurs 10th, Sat 12th, Thurs 17th, Sat 19th, Thurs 24th April at 7.30pm

£9.50 / £9 concs / £7 schools
